‘’The Convention for the Protection of the Legal Profession’’
An Effective Pathway to Safeguarding the Rule of Law
The International Conference entitled “The Convention for the Protection of the Legal Profession as an Effective Pathway to Safeguarding the Rule of Law” will take place on November 8, 2025, in Tbilisi, Georgia, marking a significant milestone in the 20th anniversary of the Georgian Bar Association. Organized in partnership with the European Association of Lawyers (AEA-EAL), the Conference will gather around 300 lawyers, legal scholars, and practitioners from across the globe, offering a significant platform for sharing ideas, experiences, and best practices in advancing the legal profession and safeguarding the rule of law.
At the heart of the Conference lies the European Convention for the Protection of the Profession of Lawyers, a fundamental instrument that ensures the independence of the legal profession, protects professional secrecy, and allows lawyers to perform their duties without interference. Participants will explore how these principles serve as the backbone of justice systems, strengthening democratic governance and safeguarding human rights. The discussions will emphasize the critical role of self-governing Bar Associations in maintaining professional integrity and quality justice, alongside strategies to ensure lawyers’ unhindered practice in line with the Convention’s provisions.
The Conference program is designed to foster both knowledge sharing and professional networking. Hereby, it includes a Gala-Dinner for the program participants in order to build friendships and professional connections in a more informal environment.
Detailed program and agenda will be shared with participants shortly after the registration.
